Women in Sport Week Begins Monday, March 4th!

Women in Sport Week kicks off on Monday, March 4th, and Cycling Ireland invites you to join in celebrating the incredible contributions of women and girls in sport. This is an opportunity to recognise and appreciate those who lead, administer, volunteer, coach, officiate, and participate in sports at all levels.

Led by Sport Ireland, Women in Sport Week aims to:

Showcase the ongoing efforts of Sport Ireland, National Governing Bodies, Local Sports Partnerships, and other organizations working to advance Women in Sport.

Celebrate every woman and girl who plays, coaches, officiates, volunteers, works in, and leads in sport.

Encourage men and boys to be active allies in supporting women in sport.

Get involved and help shine a spotlight on the remarkable women shaping the future of sport!  Click below for our full list of events.

- Run a club spin and social event after
- Start a programme such as Women on Wheels during that week
- Highlight a female coach(es)/committee member(s) on your social channels
- Highlight a male(s) within the club who is helping to engage more females in the club/supporting females in roles within the club on your social channels
- Highlight and celebrate what your club does to engage and retain females

Members
- Check out if your club is celebrating this week and get involved and/or encourage your friends to try your club!
- If you’re not part of a club, perhaps you might want to organise a spin with your mates and tag us @CyclingIreland and @SportIreland in your photos and use the hashtags #WISWeek2023 and #WomenInSportIRL
- You may want to share a story about an individual and/or club who’s been instrumental in helping you get involved or stay involved with sport …whatever the capacity!

Commissions/Provinces/Event Organisers
- If there are any female events we are unaware of or need promoting or female athletes competing that week you’d like highlighted, or perhaps a particular club/coach/person you’d like to highlight as doing a particularly great job in promoting Women in Sport then let us know!
