About Bike Week

In partnership with the National Transport Authority, Bike Week is a celebration and promotion of the benefits of cycling. This year, Bike Week will kick off on Saturday, May 14th and end on Sunday, May 22nd.

Cycling Ireland have an action packed week of events catering for all cycling disciplines from Track, Road, BMX and Mountain biking.

Bike Fest - Track

Saturday 14th May

12pm - 6pm

Sundrive Velodrome, Dublin


Cycling Ireland and Sundrive Track have teamed up to bring you Bike Fest Track. Take part in free open free open 'Introduction to Track Sessions'. All equipment will be supplied, however please bring your own helmet and indeed Cycling Shoes if fitted with Keo Cleats. If you have neither an assortment of shoes (or attachments for the pedals if you want to wear your runners) and helmets are available at the track.


Starting with basics of fixed gear / no brake riding, you will then progress to a skill point where you will feel confident and safe should you wish to take track riding to the next level and attend normal training. You don't need a Cycling Ireland License to participate so this is your chance to try out Track for free!  Places are limited!

Bike Fest - BMX

Courtown BMX Club are delighted to be hosting Bike Fest - BMX from 15th to 17th May. Whether you are on a balance bike or a pro at cycling we have something to get the adrenaline pumping. There will be a variety of bikes and helmets to suit everyone from wobblers to toddlers, children to teens, we also have bikes for all you adults. Coaches will be there to help and guide you. There will be little races and competitions for the children. Refreshments will also be available on the day. 


Sunday 15th May

11am - 3pm

Courtown BMX Track, Wexford

Come and Try sessions. Suitable for beginners. Choose from 4 sessions on the day (11-12 / 12-1 / 1-2 / 2-3)


Monday 16th May

6.30pm - 8.30pm

Courtown BMX Track, Wexford

Women's only session


Tuesday 17th May

6.30pm - 8.30pm

Courtown BMX Track, Wexford

Men's only session


There will be coached on both the flat skills area and on the track to accommodate for riders of all levels.

Bike Fest - Road

Sunday 15th May


40km Sportive 

Fair Green, Callan, Kilkenny 

Depart at 10am


Celebrate National Bike Week with the very first sportive in Callan, Co Kilkenny! Callan Cycling Club are delighted to invite you to take part in the sportive on Sunday, May 15. The 40km route has been designed to be as flat as possible and there is also a 13k option so it’s perfect for all levels of cyclist. Junctions will be marshalled and a breakdown service will be provided. Join us for refreshments after your cycle at Callan Parish Hall.

Bike Fest - MTB

The GAP - Glencullen Adventure Park are delighted to be hosting Bike Fest - MTB from 18th to 21st May. We will have lots of fun, free activities for cyclists of all ages and abilities including free uplifts, bike rental each day and training with top-class coaches. Bike Fest - Family Day

Sunday 22nd May

12 - 5pm

Kilkenny County Council, John Street Lower


The sound of bicycle bells and laughter will fill up Kilkenny on Sunday 22nd of May from 12pm - 5pm for Bike Fest – Family Cycling Festival, when Kilkenny County Hall will be transformed into a cycling haven for all the family.


Cycling Ireland and Kilkenny County Council have teamed up to bring you this family festival which will mark National Bike Week, offering an opportunity for all ages to enjoy their bike, with cycling activities for everyone. On the day there will be lots of different biking zones, Balance Bike zone, Grass Track Racing, Off-Road zone, Sprocket Rocket zone and family cycle to name just a few.

Bike Fest - Road

There will be 46 community bike rides scheduled all over Ireland during Bike Week. 


Group rides are a fantastic way to meet new people and connect with those living around you. They are a safe and sociable way to exercise. You also have the option of joining our growing community by taking part in a solo bike ride of your choice. These free rides are open to all adults (18 years and older).
