Ben McKenna
Ben McKenna dedicated his life to cycling, as both a competitor and an administrator. The true ‘man of the Rás’ competed in the stage race 21 times, winning it in 1959. His cycling ethos was selfless, and he worked hard to share with others his love of cycling, playing a key role in the tripartite committee in the early 1980s that unified Irish Cycling. Ben was a racer, and administrator, a commissaire and much more, and to this day is admired as a role model in sport.
