Embassy Of Italy To Host ‘Giro d’Italia Ride Green’ Event During 2023 Bike Week

The Embassy of Italy, together with other official partners representing Italy in Ireland, is joining Bike Week 2023 with its own Italian bike ride, “Giro d’Italia Ride Green”.

The ride will take place on the morning of Sunday, 14th May 2023 from the western point of Phoenix Park and will end after 8 km at the grounds of Lucan House, official Residence of the Ambassador of Italy to Ireland.

Families with children not participating in the ride are invited to Lucan House with their own bikes and can enjoy 13 hectares of green and the activities from 12 to 2pm.

Participants will then enjoy an Italian experience including lunch facilities, “Giro d’Italia” and bike-related items on display, Italian music and entertainment. Complimentary lunch bags of Italian food and refreshments will be offered on a first come-first served basis.

Irish bike lovers are invited to take part in the event - a two-way sustainable non competitive bicycle event focused on sustainability, green mobility, bike and e-bike production.

The 8 km track is reserved for adults who want to ride from the western point of Phoenix Park (Knockmaroon Rd. Entrance) to Lucan House through the beautiful R109 panoramic road along the River Liffey.

The ride will start at 11am (meeting point at 10.30am) and it is expected to arrive at the grounds of Lucan House before 12pm.

The Ambassador of Italy will be pleased to welcome all registered participants to experience Italian culture including the Lucan Concert Band, playing Italian music, as well as Italian food and pizza trucks.

Attendees can also learn about the “Giro d’Italia”, the Italian centenary bike race, through their official jerseys and trophy display, free gadgets, and a virtual bike “Giro d’Italia” tour on special Technogym bikes.

Other Italian brand bikes will be on display by Bianchi, Wilier, Colnago, Greenbikes and some may be ridden.

The event is organised by the Embassy of Italy in Ireland, the Italian Institute of Culture in Dublin, the ICE-Italian Trade Agency together with the Italian Irish Chamber of Commerce, Giro d'Italia-RCS and Cycling Ireland.

Ambassador Ruggero Corrias said:

“The inspiration for the Bike Week Italy event was to invite Dubliners and Irish bike lovers to enjoy an Italian bike experience, by inviting them to the grounds of the Ambassador’s Residence, offering them an Italian atmosphere once there, and showcasing the excellence of Italian production in terms of bicycles, sustainability, e-bikes and e-mopeds”
