Youth Track Cycling - Events, Training And Accreditation

The track cycling season is in full swing and with the Dublin Track Cycling International recently taking place, attention now switches to youth racing with the Paddy Doran Memorial for youths fast approaching. 


The Paddy Doran Memorial Omnium is an annual event for youth track cyclists at Sundrive Velodrome and this year the competition takes place on Saturday, 17th June. The event consists of the following races:

- 200m Flying Start TT

- Scratch race

- Kilo Dash

- Standing Start TT


The event is open to all track accredited youth riders U8 / U10 / U12 / U14 / U16. Riders will be grouped based on ability rather than age categorisations making it suitable for those new to track cycling. New riders must complete an accreditation session and one further training session to be deemed 'track accredited' and be allowed compete in events.

Training Sessions

Weekly structured training sessions for youth riders will take place every Tuesday from 7 - 8:30pm (starting 6th June) at Sundrive Velodrome. 


Other competitions 

Saturday 24th June - Round 3 of the Youth Track league (Sundrive Velodrome).  This is open to all track accredited youth riders.  It does not matter if they have missed the first two rounds. 


Saturday 15th July - Round 4 of the Youth Track league (Sundrive Velodrome)


Saturday 12th August - Youth National Track Championships (Orangefield, Belfast).
