Ulster International Youth Tour

The first edition of the Ulster International Youth Tour was promoted over the August Bank Holiday weekend by Foyle CC and saw 150 participants from Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales and the Isle of Man compete across three days.

A large contingent of riders were representing Cycling Ulster in all categories. There were some excellent performances by the squad including Emer Heverin who took the the under 14 girls title, Curtis McKee who was second in the under 14 boys category, Josh McClune who was second in the under 12 boys category and Aisha Gannon who was third on the under 14 girls category.

Speaking following the event, Cycling Ulster Chairperson, Tommy McCague said:

“It was great to see the return of an international three day race in Ulster after the pandemic. I want to commend Foyle CC on stepping forward to replace the Errigal International 3 Day which had been a fantastic event for many years. I was able to see some of the racing during the weekend and the young riders were a credit to their clubs and their families."

“There was a tremendous amount of work that went into organising the event by many people, in particular, Chris McElhinney, all of the volunteers from Foyle CC and other clubs, the race officials who travelled from near and far to support the event and the various sponsors. I also want to thank the Cycling Ulster Youth Academy and the volunteers who looked after the squad over the weekend and all of the parents."

"The Ulster International Youth Tour is a fantastic opportunity for our young cyclists and I am looking forward to seeing the event grow in the future.”
