Newport Rocky Mountain High Gravel Event 2023
The second edition of the Newport Rocky Mountain High Gravel Event takes place on Saturday, March 4th.
The family friendly gravel event is tailored towards riders of all abilities and all off road bikes, includes unique gravel trails and starts and finishes at Hotel Newport, Co. Mayo.
The event is not a race but does feature Strava-timed sections for riders who wish to challenge themselves on tough terrain, others are encouraged to ride at their own pace and take in the natural beauty of the course.
Participants can register for either a 40km or 60km loop that takes in the Wiry Hills, the Furnace Lakes, the Rocky Mountain Way, the wind and gravel of a route that is steeped in folklore and history.
The event is supported by the Newport business community, South West Development company, Mayo Rural Recreation officer, Mayo.ie, Mayo walking trails, Kelly’s butchers, Coillte, Nuasan natural skin & body care products, Greenway Hotels (Hotel Newport) and Raceface.ie
Entry fee includes: Timing, wayward marked route, food & breakdown, category prizes, post-event refreshments and a Newport bespoke food delicacy for your journey home.
