New Club Self-Assessment Tool To Be Trialled In Ulster
Cycling Ireland and Cycling Ulster are delighted to trial a new Club Self-Assessment Tool with ten clubs in Ulster.
The Club Self-Assessment Tool aims to support clubs with their development by assessing them in eight key areas and providing them with an instant overview of their club. After completing the assessment, clubs will receive a unique report supported by Cycling Ireland and will be supplied with specific feedback, toolkits, guides and links along with an editable action plan document which will help support clubs in making strategic decisions.
The Self-Assessment Tool is designed to assess clubs in these eight key areas:
- Club Governance
- Club Planning
- Club Finance
- Club Operations
- Club Marketing and Communications
- Club Equipment
- Club Coaches and Cycling Club Officials
- Cycling Club Pathway
The club’s assessments will be saved on their unique dashboard allowing clubs to review their progress against historical results.
The tool is quick, easy and free to use and can be completed on smartphone, tablet and PC. Following the trial and feedback from the 10 clubs, the Self-Assessment Tool will be made available to affiliated cycling clubs in all four provinces to help support clubs in their development.
Membership Development Officer in Ulster, Gary Lavery said:
“The new Cycling Ireland Club Self-Assessment toolkit will be a fantastic new system that will support all cycling clubs to identify key areas for development and will provide a working document that cycling clubs can use to measure progress. The online system will allow all cycling clubs to continuously update and amend their key areas as identified in the Cycling Ireland strategic plan 2020-2024 ‘supporting clubs’”.
Chairperson of Cycling Ulster, Tommy McCague said:
“I am delighted to see the launch of Cycling Ireland’s Club Self-Assessment toolkit and want to thank the Ulster clubs for being part of this initiative as it is rolled out. Cycling Ulster are keen to see our clubs progress and this system will aid them with their development in the future.”
The tool was originally developed by Scottish Gymnastics and following the success of this resource for gymnastics clubs in Scotland, Cycling Ireland has worked in partnership with Scottish Gymnastics to develop a tool specifically tailored for Cycling Ireland clubs. Thank you to Sport Northern Ireland for their continued support and assistance.
