Cycling Ireland Women in Sport Advocates Announced 

Cycling Ireland is delighted to announce the Women in Sport Advocates for 2024. 

Having received a record number of applications, a group of nine advocates have been selected for 2024. 

The women selected illustrate the diverse nature of the sport, with each advocate coming from part of the country and with their own preferred discipline. The group includes eight adults and one junior cyclist. 

Advocates play a vital role in helping to promote and encourage girls and women to become more involved in cycling. 

Each of the advocates will share their journey throughout the year through Cycling Ireland social media and a series of blog posts. 

Advocates are there to help lend a hand to anyone looking to become more involved in sport. This initiative aims to create a community of women supporting women to become more involved and to have role models throughout the cycling community. 

Speaking about the announcement, Cycling Ireland Women in Sport Lead Helen Kerrane said: 

"It’s great that women are prepared to come forward to represent their cycling communities and inspire others by their activities and stories. Cycling Advocates are the best representation of Cycling Ireland’s members at whatever age and stage of life. This year’s advocates include women and a girl with skills in leadership, coaching, active participation and visibility."
