Cycling Ireland Launch Safeguarding Audit 


Cycling Ireland will conduct the Sport Ireland Safeguarding Audit over a six-week period from week commencing 6th Feb 2022 to week ending 25th March 2022. 


The purpose of the Safeguarding Audit is to support National Governing Bodies and their Clubs to strengthen adherence to safeguarding policies and procedures thereby ensuring that children and young people taking part in Cycling are protected. 


The Audit is conducted by each Club with Junior or Youth members using a self-assessment checklist aimed at helping Clubs ensure they are adhering to all Safeguarding guidance and policies as well as adhering to the legislative requirements of The Children's First Act 2015. It will also help identify supports required at Club Level. 


The areas covered will include:

Key Safeguarding Roles 

Safeguarding Training 

Child Safeguarding policies and procedures including Risk Assessment and Child Safeguarding Statements 

Additional policies, procedures and Guidance 

Volunteer Recruitment & Support 

Behaviour & Equality 

Communication 


Rollout: 

7th Feb 2022: Information letter issued to all Club Safeguarding Officers 

8th Feb to 19th Feb 2022: Information Evenings delivered online. 

19th Feb to 18th   March 2022: Club Self-Assessment Period using link provided. 

20th March 2022: All submissions completed and received.
