Cross-country National Series Round Three Results

Dean Harvey and Caoimhe May topped the bill after a great day of racing at the third round of the Cross-country National Series on Sunday, June 4th. 


Riders descended on a sun-soaked Fossa, Killarney, for the latest installment of the series, hosted by Killarney Cycling Club, as a host of races provided an exciting day of action. 


It was Harvey who turned up the heat in the men’s senior 1 race with a dominant victory in his first outing in this year’s series, showing strong form after riding in the Tour of Japan at the end of May. 


May earned her second win of the series, after an opening round win, in the women’s senior 1 race ahead of Ciara McManus – who rode extremely well to battle with to finish just 55 seconds behind the victor and well clear of the other riders.  


In the other senior men’s races, Dominik Drwal took the win in the 2 category, David Culloty in the 3 category while Brian McCarthy edged a closely contested senior 4 beginners' category race. 


Tara Brennan proved strongest in the women’s senior 2 race after her second round win while Fiona Lally won the women’s senior 3 race. 


Local rider Adam Murphy was the clear winner of the male junior race, Curtis McKee and Mia Geary took the top spots in the U16 category races. 


In the U14 categories, Caleb McGreevy continued his fine form in this year’s series with another win while also took a win.  


James Cunningham was the strongest in a hard-fought U12 male race, Ava Baker was also the winner of a competitive U12 female race. 


In the U10 categories, Aoife Campbell picked up a strong win while the finish of the day saw Benjamin Cunningham and Jack McGahan do battle for the win in the male race – with Cunningham just edging McGahan.  


Conor McGahan and Rionach Campbell were victorious in the U8 categories, 12 boys and six girls took part in the U6 fun race in a great day for all the family.
