Busy Weekend Of Racing At Rás Mumhan And Gorey 3 Day

It was a busy Easter weekend of road racing as the Rás Mumhan and the Gorey 3 Day races took place.

Some of the best riders from around the country were on the roads of Cork and Kerry for the Rás Mumhan, which kicked off on Friday, April 7th.

Four action-packed stages saw plenty of thrilling racing before the stage race concluded with the final stage finishing in a Killorglin circuit on Monday, April 10th, as the general classification was decided.

Finn Crocket (Spokes Racing Team U23) was named winner of the general classification (GC) after stage four, with Matthew Warhurst (ROKit SRCT) taking the final stage win.

However, it had appeared that Dean Harvey (Cycling Ulster) had won the stage and the GC in an eight-up sprint from an elite breakaway in Killorglin, but Harvey was afterwards found to have breached race regulations and was given a time penalty.

Crocket took home the Points classification, Jenson Young (ROKit SRCT) won the King of the Mountains classification. Warren took the Young Rider classification and 2nd place in GC as Rokit SRCT concluded a successful weekend with two stage victories and the Teams classification.

Cycling Ireland selected an Ireland Development Team for the race, with six junior riders taking the line, there were some encouraging performances as Sam Coleman took third on stage one and Seth Dunwoody finishing runner-up on the final stage.
