2023 BMX National Championships Preview




The Irish BMX Racing season comes to a boiling point this weekend as riders and fans look forward to a blockbuster two days of racing. 


The 2023 BMX National Championships take place on Sunday, July 2nd, as Cork BMX Club play host to both the National Championships and the third round of the BMX National Series on Saturday, July 1st. 


A stellar weekend of racing awaits as riders will get a taste of what to expect in a rip-roaring National Series on Saturday before the big one the following day as a coveted national champion's jersey goes up for grabs across a range of categories.


It's already been a successful season on the BMX tracks with strong participation across a number of age groups as BMX continues to emerge as one of the fastest growing disciplines in Irish cycling.


BMX's adrenaline-fuelled racing lends itself to being a particularly enjoyable discipline for spectators while its popularity at youth levels can be credited to its accessibility and network of clubs around the country. Find out more about BMX here.

Schedule  


Grounds open at 10am for gazebo drop off


Parking available in the park's carpark


- Registration/Sign on at 10.30am

- Track open at 11am

- Open practice 11am – 11.45

- Gate practice (Under 13's) 11.45 – 12.15

- Gate practice (Over 13's) 12.15 – 12.45

- Racing to start at 1pm

- Balance bike race to take place after 3rd moto

- Prize giving to take place after finals

BMX National Series 


A prime opportunity for National Championships hopefuls to get a run at the track ahead of the big day, the third round of the BMX National Series will make for some intriguing racing on the eve of the National Championships.


With many riders expected to use the National Series as a means to sharpen the tools for Sunday, fans can expect a number of tense battles across the different age categories as rivals size eachother up.


After what's already been an enjoyable opening two rounds to the BMX National Series, we're expecting no different this Saturday!
