2024 Road Racing Season Begins

The 2024 road racing season gets underway this weekend. Cycling Ireland would like to take this opportunity to wish all athletes racing this season the very best of luck, and to thank all those who make it possible.

Each event requires a lot of support from volunteers and organisers, without their continued support these events would not be possible.

It’s set to be another busy season and the opening weekend is no exception with five races taking place around Ireland over the course of the weekend.

To best facilitate riders and event organisers, Cycling Ireland would like to remind all riders to put their entries for events in as early as possible.

Cycling Ireland Sports and Operations Director, Paul Watson said:

“After a great winter season of off-road activities, it is fantastic to see us commence our Road Season this weekend. Cycling Ireland is grateful for all promoters, volunteers and officials, without whom we would not have these events run. We would also encourage all riders to enter events early, online, to allow the promoters to manage the events they will be promoting each week, as without rider support events will possibly fall off the calendar.

"We would like to wish all riders a safe and successful year and enjoy the road season ahead.

"Over the winter we launched our Road Review Group under the leadership of our Events Officer, to review the Road Racing Scene in Ireland, and we look forward to being able to share their findings in the coming weeks and building for the future of Road Racing from 2025 onwards”.
