The 2024 Road National Series kicks off with a cracker this weekend as the Des Hanlon Memorial brings the best road racing riders in Ireland to Co. Carlow.


Taking place on Sunday, March 24th, the Des Hanlon Memorial is back for its 43rd edition along the roads of Carlow as riders seek to add their names to a prestigious list of former winners.


Always an exciting race taking in a well balanced route, the race signals the ceremonial start to the road racing season following the return to action in recent weeks.


After a thrilling 2023 Road National Series saw Conn McDunphy, Jemma Speers, Killian O'Brien and Hannah Hayes take home the winners jerseys, the race is on for riders to stake their claim for the first chance to wear the leaders jerseys.


Riders in the open and women's National Series races will compete for Road National Series points. An overall leaders jersey will be awarded to the best ranked senior, junior, senior women and junior women riders over the course of all six rounds.

Date And Location 


The first round of the 2024 Road National Series takes place on Sunday, March 24th.


The Race HQ is located at Leinster Marts Killeshin Road, R93VOR1.


Schedule


Open National Series Race - A1/A2/Junior - 12pm

A3/Junior Race - 12:05pm

Women's National Series Race - 12:10pm

A4 Race - 12:15pm


Route


The Open National Series race will take on 144km including an opening loop, three laps of a internal loop (34km) and the famous Rossmore climb after 130km before heading to the finish as riders compete to join an illustrious list of former winners.


The Women's National Series race will be 100km long and take in an opening loop as well as two laps of the internal loop before heading to the finish in what is sure to be an exciting race.
