Cycling Ireland Host Successful First Coaching Off-road CPD Event

Cycling Ireland successfully hosted a first Coaching Off-road Continuous Professional Development (CPD) event at the Tollymore National Outdoor Centre on Saturday, October 14th.

The Coaching Off Road CPD event aimed to build upon the skills and knowledge gained from the Foundation Award in Cycling Coaching or Trail Cycle Leader Award and bridge the gap for those coaches wishing to become a Level 1 Off-Road coach. The CPD event was mainly practical with some theoretical elements.

The new event represents Cycling Ireland's continued focus on offering certified coaches with increased CPD opportunities and support our coaches' development along the Coach Education Pathway.

Eight coaches took part in the event, with some local participants while others travelled from as far away as Co. Tipperary.

One participant said:

"(I registered) to improve my coaching, great to learn from the coach developer and to bring the learning back to my sessions. (It was) really informative, so we have been working on cornering and laying up on the coaching skills and we have all really improved in the last few hours we have all been here.”
