Irish cyclist Richael Timothy launched Ireland’s Paralympic cycling campaign this morning shaving 14 seconds off her personal best.

The much anticipated Tokyo Paralympic Games is just around the corner. A team of 29 athletes will represent Ireland, seven of which make up Team Ireland’s strong para-cycling squad for the games. Team Ireland’s para-cycling squad will compete on the track and on the road in Tokyo and includes individual and tandem athletes.

Thanks to a collaboration between Cycling Ireland, Paralympics Ireland, Eindhoven University of Technology, NUI Galway, Ansys and KU Leuven, Ireland’s Tokyo-bound paracycling squad can race with confidence.

Paralympics Ireland have announced the Para Cycling team that will represent Ireland at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Seven athletes have been selected for the team, five of whom will be competing at their first ever Paralympic Games.

Colin Lynch has been re-elected to to represent para-cyclists on the UCI Athletes’ Commission.

Cycling Ireland is pleased to announce Aaron Buggle has been appointed Interim High-Performance Manager for a 4-month period to October 2021.

Ireland’s para-cycling squad competed for the first time since 2020 last weekend at the UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships. After nearly 16 months off from competitive racing, Team Ireland showed their strength claiming 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals. All eyes are now set on Tokyo with the Paralympic Games just around the corner.

The UCI Paracycling Road World Championships takes place in Cascais, Portugal from June 09 – 13. Irish athletes will compete in both Road Race and Time Trial events, and many will be targeting medal winning performances.
