World Rugby Senior Legal Counsel Joins Cycling Ireland Board

 

Yvonne Nolan, Senior Legal Counsel at World Rugby, replaces Dave Smyth, on the Board of Cycling Ireland.

 

Yvonne is a respected senior lawyer who has experience working in sports law and understands the professional and volunteer sport’s governing body landscape, with expertise in the areas of corporate governance and disciplinary processes. As Legal Counsel in World Rugby, her role involves negotiating and drafting commercial agreements and advising on governance, discipline, anti-doping and regulatory matters.

 

Prior to joining World Rugby, Yvonne worked at McCann Fitzgerald, where her practice involved advising on commercial disputes and cross-border litigation.

 

As a sportsperson, Yvonne represented Ireland in the Six Nations and at the 2006 and 2010 Women’s Rugby World Cups and won 24 caps for Ireland.

 

Cycling Ireland President Ciarán McKenna commented: “Yvonne’s extensive knowledge, passion for sport and enthusiasm make her an excellent and appropriate addition to the board of Cycling Ireland. As the sport evolves and we deliver upon our vision of an island enriched by cycling, Yvonne’s expertise will be invaluable.”

Speaking following her appointment, Yvonne Nolan said: “I am delighted to join the board of Cycling Ireland and greatly look forward to contributing to the strategic direction and governance oversight for the sport.”

 

The Board of Cycling Ireland is now comprised of the following directors: Ciarán McKenna (President), Micheál Concannon (Secretary), Michael Mannix (Treasurer), Brendan Tallon (Vice President), Gillian McDarby (Vice President), Carl Fullerton, Eugene Moriarty, Noel Mulroy, Ronan McLaughlin and Yvonne Nolan.
