Women’s Track Endurance Recruitment
After the great performances at the Paris Olympic Games, Cycling Ireland is looking to expand and strengthen the women’s track endurance team as we turn our attention to LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032.
We’re looking to bolster the women’s team pursuit squad initially, so if think you have what it takes then please submit the following form to register your interest

We’re looking for riders who have the potential to perform at a high level in the coming season, but also looking for riders who could reach the top level in future years. Dan Henchy (National Track Coach) will contact everyone who submits a form to review the information and discuss potential next steps. The form will close on 9th October. The team has its first training camp planned for 14th November, so the earlier you get in touch the better!
The form asks for information on the following themes that we deem important for riders to be successful in the Irish National Team. We’re not expecting riders to excel in every area but are also looking for areas where we can add value to bring you to the required level.
Physical
If you have access to power data, please provide details of the following:
- Peak power output (best 1-s power output)
- Best 3-minute power output (3-to 5-minute power acceptable)
- Best 12-minute power output (10-20-minute power acceptable)
- Strength training experience (to include for example back/front squat PB, deadlift PB)
Please also provide your height (cm) and body mass (kg) to help us scale the above power numbers based on individual stature.
Psychology
We’re interested to know what kind of person you are. Are you a self-starter, do you like working as part of a team? How do you deal with high pressure environments?
Technical
Please outline your experience/skill level in the following areas:
- Track cycling experience
- Riding in aerobars – either on the track or the road
- Bunch racing experience – track (including Madison) or road
Results and Intangible Attributes
What are your best cycling results so far (any discipline)?
Availability
Representing Ireland in track cycling requires a lot of international travel and time away from home, friends and family. We’d like to understand a little bit about riders’ availability so we can tailor our activity to suit (where possible). Longer term we also need to understand any barriers to becoming a full-time bike rider so we can put the right support in place to make this a reality.
Please review the information and submit your form by 9th October. All applicants will receive a follow up so don’t worry if you’re not sure on some of the info but if you have any questions or would like to sub then please email National Track Coach dan.henchy@cyclingireland.ie
For those of you wondering about other track disciplines, more information will follow shortly regarding our plans for the coming season.
