Women's Sportive Series Tour of Monaghan Entries Open

Entries are open for this year’s Emyvale CC’s Tour of Monaghan. Taking place on June 14th the event and welcoming all riders, this event makes up part of this year’s Cycling Ireland Women’s Sportive Series and offers distances of 60km, 90km or 140km.

Donna Smith, Emyvale CC member and Cycling Ulster Women’s Commission Chairperson, welcomes the added support for female focused sportives; “As Chair of the Cycling Ulster Women’s Commission, I am delighted to see Emyvale Cycling Club’s Tour of Monaghan included as part of the National Women’s Sportive Series. We are proud to bring these women-only routes to Ulster and provide more opportunities for women to enjoy cycling in a welcoming and supportive environment.

There is something special about women cycling together. It creates a unique atmosphere of encouragement, friendship and fun, whether you are taking part in your first sportive or are an experienced rider. Events like this help build confidence, foster connections and encourage more women to discover the physical, mental and social benefits of cycling.

I would encourage women from across Ulster and beyond to come along, join the 60km or 90km routes, and support this fantastic initiative as we continue to grow and strengthen women’s cycling in our province.”

Event organiser Tommy McCague looked forward to the event, saying; “The Tour of Monaghan has grown into one of the country’s most popular sportives, attracting riders from across Ireland year after year. At Emyvale Cycling Club, we pride ourselves on delivering a safe, well-organised event and extending a warm Monaghan welcome to everyone who takes part.

As always, we will offer our traditional 140km, 90km and 60km routes, catering for riders of all abilities. This year, we are also absolutely delighted to be part of the National Women’s Sportive Series and to introduce dedicated women-only 60km and 90km routes alongside our existing event options. We hope this initiative encourages even more women to experience the enjoyment and camaraderie that cycling can bring.

The Tour of Monaghan is renowned for its beautiful rolling roads, challenging climbs and fantastic atmosphere, and we look forward to welcoming riders from all over Ireland to experience it for themselves. Our aim is that every participant enjoys a memorable day on the bike, takes in the stunning Monaghan scenery, and leaves with a great sense of achievement and, of course, a well-earned Tour of Monaghan finisher’s medal.”
