Women's Intermediate League Round Two Results

Grainne O’Callaghan made it two victories from two with a solo win in round two of the 2023 Women’s Intermediate League in Limerick on Sunday, May 7th.

The Orwell Wheelers rider proved too strong for the rest as she followed up her opening round victory at the IVCA Race in Dundalk, Co. Louth.

Hosted by Greenmount CA, O’Callaghan quickly asserted herself in the race as part of a four rider breakaway early on – joined by Sienna O’Dwyer, Elizabeth Kent and junior rider Shauna Finn.

Finn was the first rider to lose contact with the leaders, suffering cramp and dropping out of the race after competing in the Junior Track National Championships the previous day. With three laps to go, O’Callaghan and O’Dwyer also proved too strong for Kent.

In the final two laps, the duo raced hard before O’Callaghan was able to distance O’Dwyer and solo to victory.

The league continues May 21st with round three, the IVCA Race, taking place in Kilcullen, Co. Kildare (Sign on: Kilcullen Community Centre). Beginning at 9 am, the 52km course representing an opportunity for beginner and intermediate riders to gain racing experience. Entries are open here.
