UCI Mountain Bike Enduro World Championships Preview
Two Irish riders will represent Ireland at the 2024 UCI Mountain Bike Enduro World Championships in Italy this weekend.
Current Irish National Enduro Champion Greg Callaghan is
coming off a third-place finish in the UCI World Cup in Loudenvielle, France
last weekend. Callaghan bagged top ten finishes in the UCI World Cup rounds in
Finale, Italy and in the e-EDR category in Haute-Savoie, France earlier this
year. He’ll be hoping to continue his strong form into the World Champs in Val
di Fassa Trentino, Italy.
Another UCI World Cup regular in Kelan Grant will also make
the trip, representing Ireland in the E-Enduro category. Grant, primarily
riding in the electric category with his trade team, has had a solid year,
finishing in the top 20 at five out of six rounds in the e-bike category.
The Irish representatives will be no stranger to Val di
Fassa Trentino, having both raced at the UCI World Cup round held there in June
2023.
Both the EDR and e-EDR will take place on Sunday the 15th
of September, with the day of racing getting underway at 8.30am local time.
The EDR category will be made up of five stages, totalling 42.4km with 1200m of climbing.
The e-EDR category will be made up of two different loops, and be nine stages in total. The 53km course will also feature over 1800m of climbing.
