Three Juniors Make Road World Championship Debut in Canada
Emer Heverin has today taken 24th position in her first event at her debut Road World Championships. 2026 has already seen her claim three national championships and a European gold and silver in a true breakout year for the 17-year-old.
Heverin completed the 10km ITT course in a time of 16:43.62, 1 minute and 25 seconds behind winner Maria Okrucinska of Poland.
Heverin said afterwards “That was a really tough course, especially having not had a lot of time on the TT bike, but I’m glad to have ticked off my first Road Worlds event. I’m really looking forward to Friday and the road race now.”
Junior Tour of Ireland winner Rían McCrystal put in a solid performance in the Junior Men’s ITT, taking 52nd place, while Freddie Winkley finished a few spots ahead in 46th.
With no racing tomorrow eyes now turn to Thursday for the Junior Men’s Road Race, with Irish hopes pinned on McCrystal, Winkley and Hugh Óg Mulhearne.
