Tandem Pilot Training Course
Vision Sports Ireland in collaboration with Cycling Ireland, Laois Sports Partnership and Kildare Sports Partnership are delighted to announce our next upcoming Tandem Pilot Training Course.
The course takes place over two sessions, an online theory session taking place on Thursday October 17th via Zoom from 19:00 – 21:00 and an in-person practical session which takes place on Saturday October 19th from 11:00 – 14:00 in Portlaoise, Co. Laois.
The Tandem Pilot Training Course gives cyclists the skills and confidence to pilot an individual who is blind, or vision impaired on a tandem bike.
Tandem cycling is a sport that can be enjoyed at both recreational and elite levels. The person at the front of the bike is called a pilot and the person at the back is called a stoker. The sighted pilot steers the bike and communicates vital visual information to the stocker behind. Both pilot and stoker have access to the pedals to cycle.
