A windy but sun drenched Sundrive Velodrome played host to the Senior Track National Championships on Saturday and Sunday August 24th and 25th.
Annalise Murphy added a win in the Women’s 3k Pursuit to her
2024 medal haul. The National Road Series champion and Longcourt Hotel - NCW Wheelers
rider finished ahead of clubmate Ellen Ní Cleirigh and UCD’s Jennifer Neenan in
second and third respectively on Saturday.
A Team Skyline one-two in the Men’s 4k Pursuit saw Conn
McDunphy edge out Cian Keogh, followed by Sean Landers from UCD.
There was another win for Longcourt Hotel – NCW Wheelers
when Deirbhle Ivory finally took her first individual Senior National Title in
the Women’s Sprint. Sundrive’s own Caoimhe Seymour took second place, with
Aimee Dickson of Palmer Park Velo RT rounding out the podium.
Harvey Barnes of East Tyrone took the win in the Men’s
Sprint to finish off Saturday’s racing. He was joined on the podium by
Alexander Abdul-Wahab from Spellman Dublin Port in second place and Dmitro
Griffin from Orwell Wheelers in third.
Conditions became more difficult on Sunday as the winds picked up, but Cian Keogh and Conn McDunphy continued their strong form on from Saturday, as the Team Skyline pair took first and second place respectively in the Men’s Scratch race, giving Keogh his first individual National Title. Conor Murnane from UCD filled the final podium place.
Deirbhle Ivory doubled her weekend haul when she took the
title in the Women’s Keirin race. She finished ahead of Palmer Park Velo RT
rider Aimee Dickson in second and Sundrive’s Caoimhe Seymour in third.
In the Men’s Keirin, Harvey Barnes took the title to add to Saturday’s
Sprint win. Orwell’s Dmitro Griffin took second place with Luke Bernie from
Navan Road Club taking third.
Longcourt Hotel – NCW Wheelers again took first and second in
the Women’s Points race, as Ellen Ní Cleirigh and Jennifer Bates finished ahead
of UCD’s Jennifer Neenan in third.
The Men’s Points race saw Stefan Caulfield-Dreier from Giant
Store Assen take the top spot. Team Skyline riders Cian Keogh and Conn McDunphy
again finished on the podium, as they took second and third respectively.
