Sarah Fagan Women's Lap of Louth Next in the Women's Sportive Series
The most recent instalment of the 2026 Women’s Sportive Series saw 146 riders, aged from their mid-twenties well into their seventies, take on the Queen Maeve Women’s Tour. The event saw rider tackle either 45km or 90km routes through some of Sligo’s most visually stunning landscapes.
The Sarah Fagan Women’s Lap of Louth is the next event in the series, taking place on August 16th, offers riders a 50km or 90km route, starting and finishing from DKIT Sport.
The 50KM goes through the villages of Knockbridge, Louth village, Tallanstown (food stop), out the Ardee link road to Castlebellingham, Blackrock and back to DKIT Sport.
The 90KM route goes through Knockbridge, Louth village, Tallanstown, Ardee, Collon, Tinure, Monsterboice (food stop at Naomh Martin GAA club), Termonfeckin, Clogherhead, Togher, Annagassan, Castlebellingham, Blackrock and back to DKIT Sport.
Event organiser Yvonne Cummins said; “This is the sixth year Cuchulainn CC will run the event formerly known as the Women’s Lap of Louth. Renamed in 2023, the ‘Sarah Fagan Women’s Lap of Louth’ in memory of Sarah and the tremendous impact she had on women in sport. In 2023 Cuchulainn CC was greatly saddened to lose one of its stalwart members Sarah Fagan. Sarah passed away while competing in a triathlon in France. An esteemed member of both Cuchulainn CC and Setanta Triathlon club Sarah was forever on hand to encourage others, especially women and girls to join in the sports she loved. She really believed participation was more important than results or winning. “
