Project Inclusive Launched in Cork

Cycling Ireland is pleased to be backing Project Inclusive, an initiative fronted by ROCA Sports in Co. Cork.

The goal of this initiative is to enable schools working with children with additional needs an opportunity to participate in Cycling Ireland's Learn to Cycle and Cycle Right programs. ROCA Sports and Pashley Cycles have teamed up with schools, sports clubs and businesses to provide Pashley Robin Tricycles to these schools.

The initiative sees sports clubs and businesses raise funds to support the purchase and upkeep of these tricycles.

Director of ROCA Sports, Thomas Cahill said:

“We are proud to have the support of Cycling Ireland for this initiative and together we look forward to delivering more of the tricycles into schools catering for children with additional needs.
Cycling has formed the foundation on which ROCA Sports has been built, and collectively we believe that providing children with additional needs the equipment they need to learn and develop their cycling skills is vital and it will have a positive impact for them, their families and those that support them. Together with local communities, sports clubs, Local Sports Partnerships and Cycling Ireland we can all help to make the difference.”

Cycling Ireland Regional Development Officer for Munster, Stevie Griffin said:

"We’re thrilled to be supporting Roca Sports in promoting Project Inclusive. This initiative is about breaking down barriers and giving children with additional needs the opportunity to get on a bike—a chance they might not otherwise have had. We’re excited to see the positive impact this project could have on Cycle Right, making it more inclusive in the schools where Roca Sports place a bike.
Initiatives like this highlight the vital role Local Bike Shops play in our communities. Thomas identified a clear need in his local area and turned that vision into a meaningful project that is already making a difference. It’s inspiring to see a business working to support children and families through cycling, and we hope it encourages as many sponsors as possible to get involved.”
