Munster Women's Winter Development Programme

Cycling Ireland is excited to announce the launch of the Munster Women's Winter Development Programme in collaboration with Cycling Munster, a new initiative designed to offer skill development, training opportunities, and networking for all female Cycling Ireland (CI) members in Munster. This program is open to all CI members, regardless of racing experience, and aims to provide women with opportunities to develop their skills, build connections, and grow as cyclists.

Open to All Women Riders: The Women's Winter Development Programme is not limited to current racers but is open to any female rider interested in improving their cycling abilities. Whether you're a newcomer to the sport, considering racing, or looking to enhance your skills, this program offers something for everyone.

Key Objectives:

Development for All: These sessions will focus on key cycling skills such as bunch riding, cornering, sprint drills, and racecraft, with opportunities to improve in a supportive group setting.

Networking Opportunities: In addition to skill development, this program provides a chance to network and connect with other female cyclists from across the province, fostering a supportive community.

Varied Training Opportunities: The program includes physical and virtual talks, skill-building camps, and specialized sessions covering road, track, and MTB skills.

What to Expect: Participants can look forward to sessions that include:

Bunch Riding and Cornering: Essential techniques for group riding and navigating technical turns.

Sprint Drills and Racecraft: Sprint technique development and strategic racecraft.

Tactical Skills: Emphasis on race strategy, breakaways, and positioning in group settings.

In addition to regular training sessions, the Women's Winter Development Programme will offer:

Camps and Workshops: Featuring practical and theoretical sessions, covering topics like nutrition, mental resilience, and race preparation.

Special Guests: We are excited to welcome special guests who will serve as tutors and road captains, offering guidance and mentorship throughout the program.

We strongly encourage all hopeful participants to fill out the Expression of Interest Form linked below. By doing so, you’ll help us form the program schedule to suit the majority, ensuring we don’t clash with key events such as CX races if there is significant interest from CX riders. Additionally, we’re leaving the sessions open to current U16s who will be “aging up” to Junior for 2025. Your input on the form will help us plan appropriate ratios, dates, and locations that best meet everyone’s needs.
