Move2Be Programme Participants Announced
Seven cyclists to take part in Move2Be Leadership Programme.
Move2B, in collaboration with Cycling Ireland, Triathlon Ireland and Rowing Ireland are offering the leadership programme to empower young female athletes.
Cycling Ireland para development athlete Jessica Kennedy, as
well as tandem partner Shauna Finn will both take part. The pair recently competed
in their first international road race and time-trial at the Challenge Breton
in France.
Two riders strong on both the track and the road, Orwell
Wheelers rider Áine Reilly and Bohermeen’s Sophie English will take part, as
will road riders Aoibhínn Sharkey from VC Glendale, Amy Kinsella and Navan’s
Emma Smith.
The programme itself is a six-week programme, running from mid-September to October with an hour and half weekly workshop.
The objectives of the leadership programme are as follows:
Develop leadership experience: Focusing on sound
judgement, interpersonal and organisational skills that contribute to the
overall success of an event, organisation or team.
Expand insight, vision and strategic
thinking: Developing the ability to identify and articulate challenges
within sport, and develop ideas and strategies to overcome them.
Foster motivation and inspiration: Expanding intrinsic
motivation to achieve the best not only for themselves but for their teammates
and club, fostering a positive and supportive environment.
Improve communication: Growing the skills to
effectively communicate ideas, instructions and feedback to peers, teammates,
club members and coaches.
