Irish Cyclists Shortlisted for Olympic Awards

The Olympic Federation of Ireland (OFI) this morning announced the shortlists for the 2025 Team Ireland Olympic Awards.

Cycling Ireland is proud to announce that two athletes have been shortlisted across three categories as well as Cycling Ireland being shortlisted for High Performance Programme of the Year.

Ben Healy has been nominated in two categories. Not only has Healy been nominated as Male Athlete of the Year, sponsored by Allianz, following a tremendous season which recently culminated in a World Championship medal, his stint in the coveted Yellow Jersey at the Tour de France has also earned him a nomination for Sporting Moment of the Year, sponsored by Fiat.

Following her exceptional success at the UCI Track World Championships in Chile, combined with another strong season on the road, Lara Gillespie is shortlisted for Female Athlete of the Year, sponsored by Allianz.

As an organisation Cycling Ireland has been shortlisted for High Performance Programme of the Year, sponsored by Deloitte. 2025 has seen Irish riders take ten medals at World and European levels, across road, track and mountain bike disciplines. This included another double World Para-Cycling Championship for Katie-George Dunlevy and Linda Kelly on the road, and a European and World double win on the track for Lara Gillespie.

Cycling Ireland President Ciaran Cannon welcomed the nominations: "I'm delighted to see our riders and High Performance Unit recognised with nominations for the upcoming OFI Awards.
Ben, Lara and the HPU have set a new benchmark for excellence this year. Their nominations reflect not only the individual achievement, but also the collective commitment and ambition that now define Irish cycling at every level. After an exceptional season on the international stage, this recognition is richly deserved and a source of immense pride for everyone involved in our sport. I would encourage all of our members to get behind our athletes and vote, as we look forward with great optimism to what 2026 will bring."

The ceremony will take place on Saturday, 6th of December, bringing together the stars of Irish Olympic sport.

Voting is open to the public and will close on Friday, 14th of November.
