Galway Bay CC will host the inaugural Gravel National Championships on Sunday, 22nd of September.


The event will take place at Ryehill Demense, Co. Galway. The course will be 11.2km, and is available here.  


Provisional Distances

- M50 2 hours (6 laps, 70.8km)

- M60 1.5 hours (5 laps, 59km)

- Women (6 laps, 70.8km)

- Open (9 laps, 106.2km)


As this is the inaugural gravel National Championship, it will hold demonstration status, as per Cycling Ireland Technical Regulations. Only the Women and Open categories will hold this status, with M50 and M60 races being non-championship.


Womens and Open categories will be combined Junior, Senior and Masters.


Entry is limited to 60 riders per race, with priority given to A1 and A2 riders. Entries will open on Tuesday, 20th of August at 10am for the Women, and A1 and A2 riders. Entries for M50 and M60 will open at 7pm on Friday, 23rd of August. Any unclaimed Open entries will also be made available to A3, A4 and Limited Competition members at 7pm on Friday, 23rd of August.


Foreign Riders (Inc. British Cycling Licence Holders)

All Foreign Riders (holding licence from another National Federation) must be registered on the Cycling Ireland database, where they will be assigned an FR Licence Number.

- Copy of 2024 National Federation Licence

- Copy of 'Letter of Authority' from home federation to compete in Ireland

Eligibility

Cycling Ireland Technical Regulation - T10.A1.29

The following riders may compete in a National Championship:

(a) Members of Cycling Ireland with the relevant Competition Licence and an IRL Nationality

(b) Members of a UCI affiliated federation with an IRL Nationality on their licence.
