Heverin Adds European Medal to 2026 Tally
Emer Heverin has added another medal to an already stellar first year at the junior level as she takes third in the Junior Omnium event at the Junior/U23 European Track Championships in Cottbus, Germany.
The recent Junior Road Race and TT champion opened the day with a fourth place in the Scratch race. Heverin won two sprints in the Tempo Race not long after, giving her a second-place finish in that event and sitting in second overall heading into the second session of the day.
Heverin took fifth place in the Elimination race, before a calm and confident performance in the Points event to round out the day, solidifying a silvermedal.
Heverin has had a stunning start to her career as a junior, with the Cycling Ireland High Performance Pathway rider not only taking convincing wins in the Junior TT and Road Race in Mayo but also outsprinted Olympian and World Champion competition to take the Women’s Criterium National Championships in Dublin’s Docklands in May.
Irish riders are back on track in Cottbus tomorrow and Sunday. Live timing for all events is available here.
