From Idea to Podium: Over a Decade of Spin11 Innovation with the Irish Team
Last weekend Ben Healy brought Ireland to the podium at the Road World Championships, claiming a bronze medal. A very emotional moment of pride for Ben, for Cycling Ireland and for everyone who has been part of the journey behind the scenes.
For us at Spin11, this medal represents more than a single race- it’s the culmination of a vision we set out on over a decade ago. Our story with Cycling Ireland began in 2013, when Ireland wasn’t yet recognised as a major force on the world stage. But there was so much potential in the team- the young riders and ambitious coaches and we wanted to support those efforts- we wanted to amplify Ireland’s presence on the world stage, highlighting the strength and talent we always knew was there.
Since then we’ve spent over ten years working with the Irish team to make every detail of their technical clothing as comfortable, fast and efficient as possible. Our heritage in cycling goes way back- to the glory days of Irish cycling when Sean Kelly and Stephen Roche inspired the nation and that legacy continues to shape everything we do.
Developing the kit is a meticulous process. We source the very latest fabrics and materials, putting them through the same level of testing as the big and well recognised international brands. Sometimes those “innovations” don’t prove to be the best- but because we work closely with all the top fabric and chamois suppliers worldwide, we can identify, test and select the most effective options. That flexibility means we can even offer different chamois for different riders and adjust details to meet individual needs.
From wind tunnel testing to athlete feedback, every stitch and seam is refined until it performs perfectly. And now, with Ben Healy’s bronze medal, that dedication has paid off.
Ireland is stronger than ever on the world stage and we couldn’t be more proud to continue this journey with Cycling Ireland- honouring our heritage, supporting today’s athletes and shaping the winners of tomorrow.
