Four Irish riders will take part in the UCI Cycling eSports World Championships Semi-Finals on Friday, 6th of September.

Richard Barry, Colin Clavin, Stuart Millar and Chris Dawson will all don the virtual green, and hope to make it through to the finals. Dawson comes into the event fresh off the back of a strong performance at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, competing in both Olympic length and short track cross-country events. Richie Sheerin will act as Directeur sportif for the event.

The top 20 riders from these semi-finals will go on to represent their country at the finals, an in-person event in Abu-Dhabi on October 26th.

The semi-final is composed of two events. Stage 1 is a one lap Points Race on an 8.9km route, featuring 200m of climbing with a maximum gradient of 16.5%. Stage 1 begins at 7.30pm, before Stage 2, which is comprised of 8 laps of a mostly flat 4km route beginning at 8pm.

The cumulative points from the two races will determine the riders’ final rankings.

This competition is run using MyWhoosh software, and MyWhoosh subscribers can watch the event with their account. Others wishing to watch the event can tune in on YouTube.
