Expressions of Interest Invited for UEC Para Cycling European Road Championships
The UEC Para Cycling European Road Championships is back on the International calendar this year and the CI High Performance Unit is opening up expressions of interest towards selection.
The European Road Champs heads to a venue familiar to many of our road racing para cyclists from past events in Maniago, Italy. It takes place over 12-14th June.
The Cycling Ireland Para squad last visited Maniago for a road World Cup in 2025 which saw a double win for Paralympic Champion tandem pairing Katie George Dunlevy and Linda Kelly, along with a podium for Richael Timothy in the WC3, and will be aiming high again this time.
Expressions of Interest open today (Monday, 20th April) for two weeks, closing on May Day Bank Holiday Monday 4th May at midnight. Information gathering and selection is scheduled for the following day.
Due to the selection timelines, and entry deadlines involved, the second round of the 2026 World Cup in Abruzzo cannot be taken into account. Expressions of interest are invited to include relevant supporting statements and performances within the period from the 15th of May 2025 (i.e. Maniago World Cup 2025), until the 1st of May 2026 (Belgian World Cup 2026).
National Para Cycling Coach Jamie Blanchfield said: “We’re pleased to open our expressions of interest for the upcoming European Championships, another major target for the programme this season. It’s a welcome return to Continental championship level road racing after a couple of years away, and with good knowledge of the venue and previous success there, we’re looking forward to the opportunity to deliver a strong performance.”
