Exciting Changes Announced for Gorey 3 Day

Cycling Ireland is pleased to support the 2026 renewal of the Gorey 3 Day International Bike Race, which will take place at Easter.

The organising committee have announced a number of changes to strengthen the race, widen participation, and protect the long-term future of one of Ireland’s longest-running stage races.

Rider eligible to enter the 2026 race will now include Senior C2 and C3 riders, all Junior riders and Masters categories: M40, M50 and M60.

This is a significant update from recent years and is aimed at encouraging strong numbers across the board while keeping the standard, pace and tradition of the race intact.

Speaking about the changes, race organisers said:

“The Gorey has always been about opportunity – for young riders to test themselves, for experienced riders to measure themselves, and for clubs to race a true stage race.”

“By opening the door to C2, C3, Juniors and Masters (M40 / M50 / M60) we’re protecting that spirit and making sure we see a full, competitive field on the roads again at Easter 2026.”

Plans are underway to include a standalone women’s race to run over the same weekend. The proposed format is three stages over two days.

Gorey 3 Day has and continues to be a firm favourite in the calendar with famous past winners including Sean Kelly, Dan Martin and Mark Scanlon. The two reigning champions of both the women’s and men’s additions, Marine Lenehan and Conor Murphy, are now pro riders.

Further details on route, entry, and scheduling for the women’s race will follow once finalised, but the intention is clear: the Gorey weekend will become a platform for both male and female riders to race proper stages in front of proper crowds.

Work is already underway on stages, logistics, accommodation coordination, and volunteer planning. Full technical details including routes, stage profiles, sign-on information and entry process will be released in the coming months.
