Emer Heverin Takes European Championship Title
Having taken silver in the Junior Omnium yesterday, first-year-junior Emer Heverin has taken her first ever European Championship title.
Heverin put in a calm and controlled performance throughout the race and leaving it to the last sprint to dig deep for her biggest effort, taking full points on the final lap.
The Belfast native is riding in her first ever European Championship event and will bring home a gold and silver medal at the first time of asking. This success comes not long after she took both the Junior Road Race and TT national championships in Co. Mayo, and two months after she outsprinted Olympians and World Champion competition on Dublin streets to take the Senior Criterium National Championship.
This marks Ireland's second European Championship title in two days, off the back of Seth Dunwoody taking the win in the U23 Points event last night.
