Ireland’s largest sporting event takes place in living rooms around Ireland

 

Christopher McGlinchey and Imogen Cotter powered to victory in round 3 of the Cycling Ireland Zwift League. The virtual cycling league has seen over 1,000 people register, making it the largest sporting event in Ireland this weekend.

The route took riders ‘virtually’ around the streets of London over a 6-lap, 40-kilometre circuit. McGlinchey taking in win in a time of 48:20 with Cotter the top female in a time of 52:21.

2-time Tour de France stage winner, Thomas De Gendt, racing from his home Belgium finished in 8th place.

The Cycling Ireland Zwift League has allowed cyclists around the country to continue to train and race while adhering to the latest government guidelines. With a range of categories from beginner to professional it’s an ideal opportunity to discover cycling and join a growing online community.
