Cycling Ireland Talent Identification Initiative

Cycling Ireland excepting expressions of interest from riders, male and female, over 18 years old, seeking consideration for further engagement and potentially trialling alongside our High Performance Programmes during 2022. All disciplines are of interest from Paralympics events, Track Sprint/BMX, Endurance (Road and Track), MTB and Cross.

The Global Covid-19 Pandemic has made a huge impact on all our lives. The associated restrictions on the movement and activity of people across the planet has impacted all Sports and Cycling is no exception. The Pandemic years have not been ideal for the progression of riders in formative phases of development but Cycling Ireland remain fully committed to developing Irish riders to their potential and maintaining progressive and dynamic High Performance systems.

The postponement of Tokyo 2020 meant the usual system re-calibration and focus on development that normally occurs in a post games year is not happening in the same way as previous cycles.

With this in due consideration, Cycling Ireland is extending an expression of interest opportunity for riders, male & female, over 18yrs old, seeking consideration for further engagement and potentially trialling alongside our High Performance Programmes during 2022. We are keen to know the population of riders currently available and to learn more about your abilities and where there may be opportunities within our HP Programmes or regional support. All disciplines are of interest from Paralympic events, Track Sprint/ BMX, Endurance (Road & Track), MTB & Cross.

This is a High Performance initiative. Expressions of interest will be reviewed by National Coaches based around performance guidelines as follows:

- Review of Test data (Testing Protocol) and comparison of same to International Standards (initially this is for Endurance only but will be extended to other disciplines to link with real world performance information such as skill level and race craft). Please submit data using this template. A .fit file for head unit upload is available to download here (email HPAdmin@cycingireland.ie if you cannot download the .fit file)

- Consideration of 2021 Season Race Results & associated data file(s)

- Under 23 Athletes on an upward trajectory – Domestic or International

- Over 23 Athletes (exhibiting International standard ability) may be considered if can demonstrate an upward trajectory

Please return test data files and your Sporting CV to hpadmin@cyclingireland.ie before 17.00 31/12/2021.

If you are an Athlete that has competed at International Level in another Sport considering Talent Transfer into Cycling (that does not have any Cycling Data available), please confirm this when returning Sporting CV. Whilst we are having a limited window for this expression of interest we do want to know at any point in time if you feel you are at a level or have results that will be of interest going forwards, consider your level with your club, team or local coach to link in with the Cycling High Performance Strategy Objectives

We are looking forwards to hearing from you.
