Cycling Ireland releases BDO Report

Today, after several frustrating delays outside of our control, Cycling Ireland is pleased to confirm that BDO has this week released their independent report into Cycling Ireland’s engagement with the EvoPro cycling team. This report is now being made directly available to all adult members of Cycling Ireland individually as well as to Sport Ireland and the Oireachtas Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport and Media.

The Board is considering the findings of the report and any required next steps, while noting that many of the report’s recommendations have already been actioned as part of Cycling Ireland’s ongoing governance overhaul and reform.

Notwithstanding this, it is clear from the report that Cycling Ireland was justified in its decision not to proceed with the proposed arrangement with EvoPro and in doing so, is confident that it made the correct decision on behalf of all funders of the organisation including Cycling Ireland members, Sport Ireland and other sources of public funding. Other significant issues discovered by BDO and outlined in the report also underline the need for this investigation.

Following legal advice, this report is released to members of Cycling Ireland on an individual and strictly confidential basis and should under no circumstances be shared, transmitted or passed to a third party.

Cycling Ireland understands and shares the frustrations caused by delays to the conclusion and release of this report and we reiterate our commitment to accountability and transparency. The work undertaken has been essential for strengthening the organisation for the betterment of cycling in Ireland.
