Coaching Course Dates Announced for 2026

Cycling Ireland Coach and Education courses provide a range of opportunities. Whether you are looking to start your journey on becoming a coach, further your knowledge, or gain a new qualification, there is something for everyone.

Introduction to Coaching

Following the successful launch of the Introduction to Coaching course last year, we are delighted to have dates confirmed for 2026.

This new, one-day course, which is accredited by Sport Ireland, is the perfect starting point for those looking to explore more about coaching.

There will be an Introduction to Coaching course in each of the four provinces throughout the year.

Two of these courses will take place in February – on the 7th at Nemo Rangers GAA Club in Cork, and on the 28th at the Sport Ireland Campus in Dublin. A course will take place on March 14th at Sligo Local Sports Partnership, while a venue is yet to be announced for the course in Ulster on the April 18th.

Ride Leader Courses

There are currently four Ride Leader Courses confirmed. The first will run in Leinster on the Sport Ireland Campus on the 21st of February. This will be followed by one on the 18th of April in Gaelscoil Ui Riordain in Ballincollig, Co. Cork.

There will be a course in Ulster on the 30th of May and another in Connacht on the 18th of October. Venues for both of these courses will be confirmed closer to the time.

UCI Coaching Courses

There will be two UCI coaching courses in 2026 – one Level 1 and one Level 2.

The Level 1 course will be held at Limerick Racecourse on Saturday 28th of February and Sunday 1st of March.

The UCI Level 1 course is the ideal starting point for anyone looking to embark on a coaching career. Designed to establish a solid foundation in coaching principles, this course equips participants with the essential skills and knowledge to deliver effective and engaging coaching sessions for riders across all cycling disciplines.

The Level 2 UCI Course will run across five days. The first three will be at the Green Isle Hotel on from March 20th to 22nd. The remaining courses days will be at Corkagh Park on the 11th and 12th of April.

The UCI Level 2 Coaching Course is designed to enhance coaching expertise, focusing on athlete development and advanced coaching techniques. Building on the principles taught in Level 1, this course delves into topics such as athlete pathways, multi-discipline coaching, and performance planning.
