BMX National Series Final Round Preview
The BMX National Series comes to a head in the fifth and final round this Sunday, 15th of September.
The series heads to Lisburn for the culmination of a fantastic season’s racing, and there's plenty still to race for across all categories.
Riders from clubs around the country have been competing in
the National Series since it kicked off in Cork BMX Club in April this year.
The national series sees riders compete for not only the win of the day but to
collect those very important points to give them their overall ranking and
respective bragging rights.
This Sunday will see 125 riders from all across Ireland travel to Lisburn for their last chance to claim the points for their overall standings.
In the Female 15-29 class Jamie Owens is just 40 points ahead of Lucy Groundwater. A big day on Sunday from Groundwater could still see her challenge for the title.
The Male 15-29 class has seen Jamie Dumigan storm away at the front. Evan Bartley and Jack Whitley Halvey are separated by just 21 points in second and third however, and this promises to be an exciting finale.
It's all still to race for in the SuperClass, with Charlie Jackson leading the way on 288 points, but Brandon Mallon and Josh Whitley Halvey snapping at his heels on 258 and 238 points respectively.
A full breakdown of standings going into the series finale can be found here.
Volunteers from Lisburn BMX have been working tirelessly in
recent weeks to make sure the track is in the best possible condition going
into the event.
The event is open free of charge to spectators.
Practice will take place from 11am, with racing getting
underway at 1pm.
