O'Callaghan aiming to defend World Title at World Championships this weekend

Junior World Champion, Oisín O’Callaghan, will be out to defend his world title this weekend at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Val di Sole, Italy. 


Last year the 17-year old from Limerick became the first Irish rider to win a Downhill world title at the Mountain Bike Championship. 


Earlier this week O’Callaghan said,

“Worlds week is here and this is the one I’ve had my eyes on all year.”


In the Elite Men’s category Chris Cumming, Henry Kerr, Ronan Dunne and Jacob Dickson will fly the flag for Ireland, all competing in the Downhill event. 


The Junior Men’s Downhill qualification will begin at 9:30am (Irish Time) on Friday, 27th August with the Elite Men’s Downhill qualification getting under way at 10:45am. 


All riders will look to secure a place in the finals which will take place on Sunday morning. (Junior: 8:25, Elite: 11:50)
