Youth Tour of Scotland Team Announcement


The Cycling Ireland Youth Commission (CIYC) have selected a team of 8 riders, 4 girls and 4 boys for the Youth Tour of Scotland which takes place from April 1-4. 


The Youth Tour of Scotland is a residential stage race, taking place in the beautiful Perthshire countryside. This four day event welcomes youth teams from across the UK and Ireland to compete across four stages. The event offers the unique opportunity for youth riders to race on fully closed road stages and is a great development opportunity for ambitious young riders.


The commission received a total of 46 expressions of interest from dedicated and hard working young people across Ireland. From these the CIYC nominated a team based on the published criteria:-  A) National Championship Road Race result in 2021 B) U15 2021 having priority over u14 2021.


Girls

Reserve Hannah Hayes as per their finish positions at nationals. 


Boys 

1. Sam Coleman

2. Seth Dunwoody

3. Stephen Sheehan

4. Willem O Connor

Reserve Josh Callaly as per their finish at nationals.


Staffing and further details will be communicated with the successful applicants in due course. 


All those who submitted an expressions of interest should have received an email (Tuesday 25th) informing them of the above. 


This is the first of many planned events and development opportunities for youths in all disciplines that are planned for 2022. More information will be posted here soon.
