UCI Coaching Courses

The UCI Coach Development Programme (CDP) is designed to provide coaches with the opportunity to study and practice all aspects of coaching the cycling disciplines. Its aim is to produce and develop competent coaches who are capable of progressing athletes through to the highest level.



About the UCI Coaching Programme


The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is the world governing body for sports cycling and oversees international competitive cycling events.


The UCI has developed a high-level coaching programme, with the aim of developing competent coaches who are capable of progressing athletes through to the highest level.


UCI Level 1 and Level 2 coaching courses are run around the world, through national federations. Higher level coaching courses and additional training is provided at the World Cycling

Centre, Switzerland.

UCI Level 1

The UCI Level 1 coaching course is the entry qualification for coaches in the UCI programme and focuses on the foundations of coaching. This knowledge is fundamental to ensuring that the most relevant and suitable coaching is provided for each rider and for each cycling discipline.


Coaches will learn the fundamentals of technique that is consistent in all cycling activities and how to deliver effective and structured coaching sessions.

UCI Level 2

The Coach Development Programme (CDP) is designed to provide candidates with the opportunity to study and practice all aspects of coaching the cycling disciplines under the expert guidance of a UCI tutor. The programme increases candidates knowledge levels and expertise in all areas of cycle coaching and includes additional cycling disciplines.


The Level 2 is aimed at new coaches who have completed UCI Level 1 and coaches should be working with younger riders or developing athletes.

CI member, UCI level 1 completed

5 days / 9am to 6pm
