About Gearing Up Off Road Greg says

"It's brilliant to see a programme like Gearing Up Off Road in Ireland helping people get into mountain biking. It's never been easier to take up the sport with all the official trails around the country, how accessible bikes are and now with this programme it ensures people start off on the right foot and get all the basics covered from the get go. The benefits of mountain biking are endless, it's great for the mind & body and being on a bike is a brilliant way to see our beautiful country from another angle. All we want to do is show that to as many people as possible so they can enjoy it too and Gearing Up Off Road is helping us do that in the best way."

“Gearing Up Off Road is a fantastic programme that opens up mountain biking to so many people. As an instructor you learn all about how to coach others on developing and improving their biking skills. As a rider you can work through all the skills needed in mountain biking  which make you a better rider. The way the course has been designed makes it easy and fun for people to complete.”

Michelle Muldoon

''The Gearing up off road programme is such a fantastic programme which is designed for all levels of riders from beginners to advanced with an emphasis on skill development and bike maintenance that equips riders with the skills needed to enjoy the trails and have the confidence to perform any emergency trailside mechanics. Its great for mountain bikers to have access to a programme like this as it means that riders can hit the trails with more confidence and get more out of their day on the bike. As an advocate for more female riders, its a great opportunity for more women to get involved in mountain biking and to develop their skills which in turn leads to more confidence on the trails and thus more fun riding!''

Killian Callaghan

Although only 19 years old, Killian is one of the country's top riders and has already racked up some seriously impressive results including  3rd at the Enduro World Series in Ireland in 2015, runner up at the 2015 European Under 21 Championships, winning the 2015 Irish Gravity Enduro Series as well as the Under 21 National Championship event, 3rd in the Under 21 category of the 2016 EWS round in Aspen, Colorado and most of all winning the under 21 category of the 2016 EWS round in Carrick, Ireland.

"With all the new trail centres being opened around Ireland it’s great that Cycling Ireland have put together the Gearing Up Off Road programme. Hopefully it will help bring the experiences of mountain biking to a whole new level of people. We’re very lucky in Ireland that all our mountains are easy to get to and have so many trails that can be used from beginners to full on racers.

I'm excited to be part of The Gearing Up Off road programme which will hopefully bring more people into the sport which is already growing quite quickly."
