2023 UCI Gravel World Championships Wild Card Nomination Expression Of Interest

Cycling Ireland would like to invite expressions of interest for the events at the 2023 UCI Gravel World Championships which take place on the 7th and 8th October 2023 in Veneto Italy.

Cycling Ireland receive a number of wild card nominations for these events – across both Elite and age-related categories for both men and women. A number of Irish riders have already prequalified through their performances in Gravel World Series events all over the world. Please be aware – you can not ride in the age related events if you are a member of a UCI Team or have any UCI Points – those riders can only ride the Elite events.

In order to express an interest in a wild card nomination from Cycling Ireland, those interested must hold an Irish full competition licence with International Authorisation. Interested applicants’ results from 2022 to 2023 in relevant events will be considered and wild card nominations selected on a points-based objective process.

The UCI Wild Card nomination is an individual process and is not part of the Cycling Ireland’s High Performance Unit, therefore costs of kit, entry, travel, and accommodation to and at the event, is the responsibility of the riders - not Cycling Ireland.

In line with UCI Gravel Worlds Regulations, all riders must compete in the World Championships in a National Kit. UCI and Cycling Ireland jersey kit guidelines for the UCI Gravel World Championships can be found here.

Expressions of interest must be completed and sent to paul.watson@cyclingireland.ie before 12 pm on Friday, September 15th.

Riders nominated for potential wild cards will be notified by email - on or before Monday, September 18th.
