TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT - CYCLOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS – DENMARK
CYCLING IRELAND will have five young riders at this weekend's UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Bogense, Denmark.

The team selected includes Ireland's Elite Men's National Championships second David Conroy, Women's National Champion Lara Gillespie, and leading junior Adam McGarr - all three having also competed at the 2018 Cyclocross World Championships in the Netherlands.

In the Women's U23 race, Gillespie finished 24th, with Conroy taking 54th in the Men's U23 and McGarr finishing 57th in the Junior Men's event at Valkenburg in Limburg province.

The course for the 2019 Cyclocross World Championships is a steep, coastal circuit, defined by a 10-foot high seawall with a steep embankment. Ground conditions were on Friday described as 'frozen and fast', with reports of mussel shells adding a unique potential hazard to the Irish riders competing for World Champions' jerseys.

Ireland will be competing first in the Junior Men's race at 10am on Saturday, then the Men's U23 at 12pm and the Women's U23 on Sunday, all set to live-streamed by the UCI: Click Here For Feed
