Mick Lawless RIP
19/06/2019
Cycling Ireland are very sad to announce the passing of Mick Lawless of South Dublin CC last night.
Mick was a past President of Cycling Ireland and he was a huge influence on the cycling community over the last 40 years. His legacy will live on in Corkagh Park which is sometimes known as Mick Lawless Park because of the huge amount of work he put in to make the cycle track happen.
He was also a big supporter of Women's cycling and did a lot of work to increase participation and organise Women's racing.
Among road cyclists Mick is probably most well known for being the broom wagon driver on the Rás, getting a lot of riders home everyday before the time limit. Mick was a very likeable and well known character in Irish Cycling and will be sorely missed. RIP
