Irish Cycling Show official fan park of Giro d’Italia!

The Irish Cycling Show has moved the exhibition this year to be part of the Dublin leg of the Giro d”Italia. Now in it’s third year the show will take place inside Merrion Square Park on the 10th and 11th May 2014.

Mara Media the organisers of The Irish Cycling Show are expecting this to be the biggest show yet with top names such as Chain Reaction, Rapha/Team Sky, Trek and many more exhibiting at the show.

This is a unique event for Ireland with the Giro d’Italia only taking place outside of Italy 10 times since 1909, thus creating a festival atmosphere along the route and at the finish line in Dublin. This will be a great family weekend with events running for all ages.

Dublin City Council are holding a family entertainment zone in the west of the park over the weekend from 1pm to 6pm Saturday and Sunday. The zone will be a fusion of fun and interactive elements aimed at families, including a fancy dress competition with spot prizes for best use of pink. Other events include “Cycle Circus”, face painting, Live Band Stage, food concessions and make your own smoothie among others.

Women on Wheels - the first women only cycle to happen in Ireland.

One4all Women on Wheels with Oxfam is a very manageable, fun 22km cycle that will cycle the final leg of the Giro d’Italia cycle route taking place on Saturday May 10th 2014 at 8:30am, starting at Merrion Square – registration fee €25. All information is available at their website here

The official finish of the race will take place at approximately 4.30pm on Sunday 11th May at Merrion Square West outside government buildings with TV crews, radio and press reaching over 170 countries.  A 90 vehicle promotional caravan will precede the race, approximately 90 minutes ahead of the peleton, handing out promotional items along the route.

The race will be broadcast live on the Dublin City Council / An Post big screen to be located at South East corner of Merrion Square.

An Post is delighted to be part of the Irish Cycling Show, now in its third year and biggest event to date.  For everyone involved in cycling - be it as a sponsor, a small business or a cycling club, this is a great chance show the contribution cycling makes as a sport and to our economy as well as adding to the social fabric of family and community life, through leisure cycling , charity cycles and club racing.
